Home is where the herd is

Updated: Feb 21, 2022

When I was deciding what message to put inside these wood houses, I came across this: "Home is where the herd is". I got to thinking what that message really means. Yes, I will admit it is cute and a bit funny. My mind drifted back to when I was young, and we would celebrate Christmas Eve at my grandparents' house. Their house was small, but somehow, we would all fit in that house. The kids would congregate in different rooms, the little girls would play with their dolls in a bedroom, the older kids would play games on the back porch, while the little boys would play war under the kitchen table or in the hallway. Aunts, Uncles, and the grandparents would prepare the food and catch up on what was new in the kitchen and living room. There must have been close to 30 people in that small living room where we would all gather to open presents! We all had a great time. Now I am the one hosting get togethers at my house. I look forward to playing games with my children and their significant others while my grandchildren play. Home is where the herd is, with all its chaos, noise, laughter and most importantly, LOVE.
